"His artwork is like life, colorful and unexpected, which after time,
begins to take its own shape. Glass is used but it is not glass art.
A canvas is painted but it is not pictorial art. A three-dimensional aspect
is inevitable but it is not a sculpture. So what should it be?”
- Excerpt from ''Jacques Hébert. Soul of Glass", Parcours Art et Art
de vivre (Magazine), Autumn, 2005 -
This is Jacques Philippe Hébert ,“The Soul of Glass” , a pioneering
force in a singular style who composes his works of art through the use of
Murano glass as a medium which add a transparent fluidity to each painting.
His artistic expression comes alive through the metamorphosis of blown glass
in which the artist fuses and amalgamates to his painted canvas.
Vibrant colors, infinite shapes and three-dimensional quality, Hebert’s
glass immediately capture your senses.
Today, with all the technical skill of the 14th Century Italian glass
artisans, Jacques is a master of controlling temperature, and fusing
multiple colors of glass into his art in one process. Beyond his
ability to conquer 700 year old glass techniques, this kaleidoscope of
personal art and design by Jacques Philippe Hébert, which he calls
Metamorphosis, mark the beginning of a new contemporary Renaissance in the
mastery of glass as an innovative art form.
“Combine the fluidity and translucence of contemporary studio glass master
Dale Chihuly, the strong linear rhythms, simple elongated forms and verticality
of Amedeo Modigliani, and add the dimensional energy in the evolution of the
work of American minimalist and sculptor Frank Stella, and then one can begin
to sense the emerging and noteworthy creative body of work of Jacques Philippe
Hébert." - Excerpt from Jeffrey A. Dering, DERING FINE ART, Artist Report, 12
